My name is Valentyn Odnoviun. I am Ukrainian living in Vilnius, Lithuania.
During 2009-2016 my works were presented in Europe and the USA. As a cancer survivor, I held projects and photo auctions in support of children with cancer in Ukraine.
In 2014 I got a scholarship for two years of studies in the Vilnius Art Academy and became a student at the Masters degree on the Photography and Media Arts Faculty and was selected to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz, Poland for one semester at the Photography and Media Arts Faculty in 2015.
During the last few years my research has been mostly linked with historical or socially engaged events and problems through the “abstract”-looking image, working with the imagination of the viewer to create more concrete communication with the help of interpretation and conceptual thinking.
Photographs in my latest projects call into question the relation between what we see and what we perceive in advance of the act of recognition. These photographs as patterns and traces emphasize the borders not only of human perception, but the border where the consequences of human action meet reason.
